Could one argue that he is I. The process of creating more formalized learned? After all, hasn’t he created a school by the river?
That's still running by his old familiar apprenticeship model, with tweaks, from his point of view. If it expands or extends beyond his long lifetime, who knows.

Really, isn't all learning self-learning? I can have the the greatest teachers in the world, but if I don't apply myself, I won't learn.
