Bruce, I could see David Tennant, or possibly Benedict Cumberbatch (or a young Hugh Laurie) as Skelgill, and even though she's American, I see Gretchen Mol as Jones (especially in her role as Annie on the American version of Life on Mars) or Carey Mulligan. Not sure about Leyton. I see him clearly in my mind's eye as a stocky, early to mid 30's, slightly bumbling kind of guy, but can't think of an actor offhand who matches my vision of him.
Some nice suggestions - thank you. I agree - the hunt is on to find DS Leyton! I must confess, I hear his voice so clearly, yet his face remains something of a blur.
