I personally have only read The Sharing Knife series - besides the Vorkosiverse books (which was where I began my reading experience of the LMB oeuvre), so I can highly recommend that series. (I will get to the World of Five Gods eventually, I hope/intend!)
I’ve read all the books by Bujold several times, and love all of them. In recent years I’ve been turning to the Curse of Chalion series more when I reread. We just got a new kitten and we named him Cazaril, from those books. https://imgur.com/gallery/CnNc52m
Same! I just started reading that series as a challenge in my book club and i LOVEEEEE them i wish i had discovered them sooner!
Definitely World of the 5 gods series - Chalion and Penric's stories. They are the gospel of the universe! *grin*
I always send people to the Sharing Knife books (now 4 novels and a worthy 5th entry, a novella). Characters continue across the books, so the character development is really, really strong (as in the Vorkosigan series).
The series of Penric novellas are very enjoyable - set in the 5 gods universe, but separate from the books - recommended.
If you're enjoying the VK series, I'd recommend Chalion & Paladin next and then the rest of the 5 Gods. Other than the future vs. past and technology vs. magic/religion obvious differences, the two series are most similar in nature vis a vis the character development and story lines. The Sharing Knife is very good as well but very differently toned, IMHO, and thereby more a stretch from the VK series. The writing in all of them is all top notch.
