Lisa I think all great things take time. Your books are amazing and I would never want to see a "ghostwriter" touch your stories. Your books have so much heart and laughter in them. I often do re-read-a-thons with your books and look forward to when you release a new one.

Peggy I wouldn’t either. I hate it when an author uses ghost writers. The reader can tell immediately- the stories are not cohesive - I would rather wait for the real thing. If you like an author’s work, then given a ghost writer’s work instead feels like a disappointment to me

MJ Just out of curiosity... do you know the ‘standards’ or ‘legal’ side of getting a ghost writer? Do you have to acknowledge or change any fine print on the books they write?

I would never advocate a ghost writer. Completely get where you are coming from with ‘everything going on and not sorted till it’s on the page’. I’m convinced one of ‘my authors’ has gotten a ghostwriter... cause I feel bad thinking her writing standards have dropped so low. But everyone thinks I’m a heretic.

GOOD books are worth the wait. The critical point can be if the readers are kept up to date and not forgotten or lied to as to why things are taking so long.

Peggy I don’t know the legal side but I am positive some of my authors have ghostwriters as I can tell in the writer’s style and everything about the books are different - my authors are meticulous about edits, yet when some books are sold the info doesn’t even match the blurb and the edits are horrendous- as well, the way it’s written is completely different and not up to snuff. I personally think that information is vital - they might as well just write under a different name plus it is very disappointing to get a book and expect one thing and get another, especially when the care and attention is much less then expected. Some authors don’t give their readers enough credit and at the price of kindle copies in Canada $6-$10 it’s unacceptable. As well, how many authors can out out 6-8 books a month? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist and sadly, even though I enjoyed those authors originally, I don’t bother buying from them any more. It’s not worth buying 5 books and out of those 5 only getting one book that’s up to snuff. I think it’s deceiving personally, especially if we are not given any notice because it leads to disappointment and feeling like you were taken, not only for granted, but also advantage of.

Donna I think the question could have been phrased differently. "Cannot keep up" of you are a fan you surely can wait for the author. I do not reply to offend. I see Ms Matthewson has a busy personal life.

Peggy We agree, we would rather wait and savour a book by the author rather than a ghostwriter - many of us are not for that,- and neither is this author hooray!
