Dorothy I understand but…Grover Gardner has Miles pegged! I Just love listening although it was a grow on you type experience. Merry Christmas!

Taylor Grayson I've "read" all the Vorkosigan novels via audio. Grover Gardner really captures the irony imbued in the stories.

But yes, you do need hands-free activities. I listen while cleaning the kitchen or working out. As the stories approach denouement, I've even walked around the grocery store with a headset on.

Jo-ann Before I retired, I had my computer read Bujold books... over and over... on the 45 min. ride to work. I did this for years. It was something that made me focus on something other than the stress of being a teacher. On the way home I listened to podcasts and news. Bujold books were a way to leave the stress before becoming immersed in it. I must have listened to each of her books, read by my computer, at least 3 (or more) times each. I have been retired for 2 years and find I miss the commute time!

Tiff Leek I agree, it took me a long time to get into audiobooks because the readers were doing it so RONG. There are some that I can't listen to at all (actually one of the women readers of your books, although I can't remember which one it is), but I am a bit obsessive with finishing books, so if I am doing DIY/making/driving/etc etc I find audiobooks are less likely to accidentally eat my day..

Susan I too am a visual processor. I've listened to a couple audio books (not yours, I have them all in hardback!) while sitting at the computer playing solitaire, just to have something to do with my hands. But it's not the same as taking it from my eyes directly to my brain. I have branched out into e-books, because it's nice to be able to read in the dark occasionally!

Marilyn Don't panic, but I play audio books when I drive. I only listen to much read books that provide a backgroud accompaniment. Otherwise I can get far more lost in my own head.

Jonathan Palfrey I have briefly tried listening to audio books now and then, but they all sound wrong to me. And yes, they’re slow.
