Haha. Well, I suppose that makes me feel better that you don’t hate it! But if you did, like I said, we’re all different, and that’s okay.
Some books aren’t meant to be enjoyed. Bodies was never meant to be enjoyed. I don’t think that was ever my intention. I wanted the book to leave a bad taste in a reader’s mouth. There are a lot of books that I didn’t enjoy reading that stayed with me (‘Philosophical Investigations’ by Ludwig Wittgenstein being one that comes to mind. Anything by Kant is awful-but-wonderful—once you understand him.)
And if your work is misunderstood by one generation, that doesn’t mean it won’t be understood by another, in a different language, in another culture. So I’m not worried about it. Some books shouldn’t be read. Maybe Bodies is one of them. Who knows?
I’m wrapping up two novels now, so there’s an opportunity there to enjoy something else. You can’t win them all!
Fully understand, however if your book, as you say is not meant to be enjoyed, perhaps it is in the 'wrong' genre :) or perhaps the blurb at the 'back' of the book needs to be adjusted too. It almost leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but not for the reason that you might have intended (lol). At the end of the day, the majority of people in this genre are looking for enjoyment and escapism. :)
Good luck with your other books and I hope to enjoy one of them soon.

I think that reviews can make or break a book, as I have many times looked at reviews, and depending on the reviews have decided to read/not read a book. I think that is why, I can imagine myself as a writer (actually a dream), I write reviews (good and not so good) with a thought in mind of not being negative but trying to be thoughtful to the person that has to read it. Definitely wouldn't want you to be pulling any Vince moves on me :)
Having said that, I hopefully get an opportunity to read one of your other books soon.
