I meant to say that Fauci said this but didn't realize I'd left him out until I'd sent the question and then I couldn't fix it.
It's more accurate to say that the question is regarding whether the virus may have been being studied in the lab and that it escaped.
There are no serious scientists claiming it was created in the Wuhan lab. There are some who are wondering about the first question.
I think it was in a PBS Nova documentary on Bats, and I think it was made before covid struck, that an illuminating scientific discovery stood out to me. They put a device onto a bat they netted at dusk cave-exit, and recorded among much else the fact that when bats are flying and hunting their temperatures are extremely high. This led me to wonder if that is why bats are able to harbor all sorts of viruses -- especially rabies -- in an endemic state while not succumbing to them. Couldn't tell if the scientists in the documentary also thought this but for some reason didn't say so. Well, the non-scientists doing the film editing might not have thought it was important -- wouldn't be the first time that happened. I, however, think it might be very important indeed.
