Will you give warning for those who don't believe those kinds of relationships are right? I love your books, but I'll pass on normalizing what I see as sin.
As Issabelle said, this goes against my religious beliefs as well. I love your books, Mrs. Nielsen, but I won't enjoy them with something that I consider a sin in them.
Aw dang it. I liked having a kindred spirit author with no LGBT characters in her books, cause I don't either.
Yeah, i love your series, but i just don't agree with the LGBTQ+ stuff. i just want some clean books/stories to read in this day and age.
Agreed Rylie! I was really excited to fine Jennifer so clean with her writing...this is definitely a bummer 😢
But at least it will be in a story and not a full book!
Imma hate to see possibly a favorite character "come out"
Yeah, Elisa, the books will still be AMAZING, but just the fact that knowing someone is not who I thought them to be, is disappointing. And yes, thankfully it's not a full book. The reason I didn't read PJO is bc I didn't really like it, but I didn't want to fall in love with characters who I knew would be gay, and I guess the same thing is happening with these.
Elisa and Rylie: I just second that SO much! I don't know why it's too much to ask for to just have ONE series that is clean that I can love and support and tell all my friends about without feeling guilty.
Ugh. I agree with EVERYTHING y'all are saying. It's so hard to find clean books these days...and Nielsen is one of my favorite authors! I can't even imagine one of my favorite characters "coming out", regardless if it's a short story or part of the book. It sorta just ruins it for me, seeing that I don't support that stuff. @Isabelle - RIGHT?!?!? Like, I just want a good, clean series with none of this stuff. Why is that so hard????
Yes!!! Agree 3000% I can't imagine some form THE ASCENDANCE series coming out!!! It's my favorite series EVER and yes @Ava it would ruin EVERYTHING 😥
AMEN, Ava!! Exactly, why is that so hard? I nearly stopped reading when I first hit my teen years because young adult literature was the books I was interested in but I will NOT waiver my convictions for the sake of enjoyment. If it wasn't for Christian fiction, self-published books, and Jennifer Nielsen, I wouldn't be a reader today. So it just pains me to know that the upcoming generations of teens who will be like me won't have an author like her they can trust. :,(
Exactly! Like, I'm still scanning the Juvenile sections at bookstores and libraries because so much YA is so... not okay and weird. Nielsen's books are just so good and clean, and free of all of THIS.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one with this opinion. I saw this question and the answer and was like *gasp* NOT JENNIFER NIELSEN!!! NOT THE ASCENDANCE SERIES!!! But yeah...*sigh* this is just a little frustrating.
GIRL I WAS THE SAME WAY!!!! (Actually, I was worse. I cried... and I'm not a crier... long story XD) It is, it really, truly is. *sighs*
Yeah....
It just disturbs me tbh. Especially since The Ascendance Series was so innocent. Just Sage's humor and huge plot twists. Then you throw something like this in there. Sheesh, I need some chocolate or something...
Also, if anyone including Mrs. Nielsen reads this and doesn't understand, We are NOT hating her or her books. This series is my favorite and probably is someone else's favorite in this comment thread, which is why we don't want this to happen. It's like your favorite food, which you thought was always fine to eat, one day being horrible and making you sick. You want the yummy food. (wow. i am so bad at writing whatever these things are called. XD XD)
Yeah, agree with you up there Ava. Sage was innocent and I thought the rest of them were. it just kinda makes me sick. I want innocent characters that we can relate to.
Yeah, that makes a lotta sense. I like characters that I can relate to. Sage makes me laugh... a lot. But so do the other characters. Like, they all just fit together in this great way, all their personalities are just great the way they are. Why change that? You know?
I agree with everything that was said!! ITS SO HARD TO FIND BOOKS THAT ARE CLEAN! Ig we can just not read the short story, but it still kinda wrecks the book for me
Yes, totally. Just knowing that someone isn't who we thought they truly were is just going to ruin it some.
Yeah. It will change things whether or not we read it. We'll still know that one of our (possible) favorite characters isn't who we thought they were. I just hope it's not who I think it is...
I'm just gonna maybe ignore the short story when it comes out...especially if it's who I think it is it will ruin the story. Totally not hating on Ascendance or Jen I could never do that but I will die if it's one of my faves. Yeah @Ava I need chocolate too
@Ellie - I totally agree. It's like... I don't wanna say who I think it is...but....yeah I just don't want it to be one of my faves.
Yeah same yall....I unfortunately have a theory, but I won't say lol. So sad! But definitely not having @Ellie
Yeah @Ava can I have chocolate 🍫😂
