I loved this scene so much. I work in the ICU and have spoken with many patients about the confusion and weird transient awareness that they can feel with being critically ill and twilight sedation. The way Marx experienced this was so interesting - I spoke with some of my coworkers who also read the book, we all felt like it was an insightful version of what a patient would feel.
