Thank you :-) I found the part you mentioned a few days after I posted my question actually, I think it was old books and certain herbs. I wonder if you could narrow the herbs down... I thought perhaps Rosemary and maybe Bay? From all of the scones she makes... But I wonder if there might be some spices similar to a chai like clove, ginger or cardamom? Also I have to say thank you so much for adding these details to your characters. I love when authors do this! It adds so much depth without dictating too much of what they look like so the reader can still create some of their own impressions. I will definitely have to go and check out the patreon!

You are so welcome! When I wrote about Lily I think I had more of a black tea smell in mind, since she drinks so much of it, but she would also be using a lot of basil and thyme in savory scones with, yes, spices such as cinnamon and clove for sweet baked goods.

Of course, for the purposes of it being a romance subplot, generally it *sounds* more romantic when the girl smells of something lovely and sweet/comforting, so smelling like old books and fresh baked muffins/scones sounds perfect! I think naming the exact herbs/spices might be counterproductive like you said, because then people could have their own interpretation of what fresh baked muffins smells like, and you could have your own interpretation too!
