I agree. It was not necessary, especially when we'd heard so little about Jutta at that point. It is historically factual that such assaults happened, but it is a cruel scene for already emotional readers like me.
I think it was. Not that I wanted to read it, but it shows how strong the girls were, especially Jutta, from obvious reasons. Claudia for example wasn't as strong and that was an example of many females in that situation. This scene especially tugged on my heart strings and I almost cried. Now I have a small understanding of what happened to these females.
