While we're on the subject of perfection, The Sharing Knife series is at the perfect level of romance and eroticism for my taste. I've yet to find other science fiction and fantasy that hits the spot quite to well, romance-wise.
I would like to echo the praise for The Curse of Chalion as well. I am a huge fan of all your work, and have been an avid follower of Miles since I first read of his exploits in Analog magazine, but The curse of Chalion is, I think, your masterpiece.
I keep hearing good things about Curse of Chalion, and I'll get to the trilogy it starts off soon. I just finished Canticles for Leibowitz. I'm three books into Malazan Book of the Fallen (Memories of Ice was delicious). I'm a third of the way through The Scarlet Pimpernel. After those, but before getting on with Malazan, I plan to read Lud-In-the-Mist and Alas, Babylon and The Lovely Bones and Among Others and ETHAN OF ATHOS. And then the Chalion books. I've also tagged The Thief of Always and the Lankhmar stories for reading in the not-too-distant future, but Chalion before them (I think).
I agree. Probably my favorite and most re-read book of all time. And I've reread many of your books Ms Bujold, multiple times. Curse of Chalion literally fell apart after so many rereads. Luckily, I now have it in Kindle format. And with the search capability I can easily just find my favorite event to sink into when I need some comfort. Just last Friday, I needed to read the scene where Cazaril got back from Ibra with the contract and Bergon and Iselle meet each other. THANK YOU!
