This is one of my favorite series. I can't wait to see how close all the characters stories in Aflame.
I really don't understand this reader's unset. Since you are a writer by profession, isn't every book you write for the primary purpose of earning money? As a fan and reader of this series, I love Jared and Tate and it made me cry to have them break up but I do feel Jared is the one character that had unresolved issues and if the readers paid attention to what they were reading they would have noticed that. His meetings with the school counselor where he never really has a clear "knowing" of what he wants to go to college for. The meetings with his dad that trouble him when his dad continually tells him he isn't worth anything and will be alone. One thing is very and always clear though and that is Jared loves Tate with all his heart. Just like he tells her ... she's the only thing he IS sure of. While this development is sad, I don't think it should be such a source of surprise/distress for the fans of the series. Penelope - You ROCK! Don't buy into the haters/bullies!
I agree with Book faerie, Wednesday grow up I've' read plenty of books that i don't like the end or there is no HEA but i don't delete them and bitch out to author just because i can im not writing the book they are.Cant wait for Aflame although im excited and nervous about Corrupt but i will still give it a go because i feel i have more with those books that make me feel that way than other that can be an easier read. love you Penelope you rock girl
I totally agree, these character feel more real when real things happen to them. I have not read the extract from the last book for aflame as I do not want to ruin the suspense for me but I have heard what it is roughly about from friends. I am hoping it will bring the characters closer together as what I experience with my husband when we broke up when Bf and GF and 12 years down the line we are stronger than ever. Cant wait for the book.. Thanks Penelope for the books
Love this series. Life isn't perfect and we don't get everything we want-when we want it. I, too agree with Book Faerie.
Well, Book faerie, no everyone has the same likes, and beside, character that control the author? That's dumb. For you I'm a hatter and for me you're an screaming cry fan baby that don't accepts when others has diferents opinions.
Clare Hart? Ajá. I'm so done with the screaming crazy fans. When you like something u see the good and the bad things don't get blind.
I need to grow up and you need to accepts other opinions LOL
Danni I for one never knock anyone for having an opinion of their own. But come on Wednesday you don't kind of see how your question was somewhat rude...just a little? I'm not saying you have to like her books because I do that's not it at all. I believe you could had still let her know that you are disappointed the way she went with the series but just differently. (less)
Wednesday, you act like she is personally attacking you. Everyone has their own tastes. Me, for example, I love stories that go on for more than one book. You find out more about the characters and become more attached. Her continuing their story is more realistic then if they had their HEA in highschool. If you have nothing nice to say, shut up!
I want to commend Mrs. Douglas on how she graciously handled this rude and very distasteful person. We get it, you didn't get your way on how that situation ended but guess what, you didn't write it nor do you have to read the next. It's not like her writing is located grade, it's actually very exceptional. The people in her head have a story to tell, sorry it isn't up to your standards but she has a lot of people who have very much enjoyed everyone one of the FA serise. I'm sorry your parents never taught you this valuable lesson but I will, If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. Reviews are for you to express your like or dislike for the books. This is to ask questions of the writers, who by the way take their time to answer. I'm sorry you failed to comprehend that basic concepts. I hope you have a wonderful day and many great reads ahead of you. Thank you Mrs. Douglas for all your hard work and letting me escape my reality every once in awhile.
Wednesday-
You are absolutely right, not everyone has the same likes or dislikes, however, the best books come from characters not necessarily "controlling" the author but writing their own story. Yes, the character is a concept that the author thought of but when you have a series that is a wonderful as this one, the storyline has a way of writing itself. You certainly have every right to voice your opinion but perhaps it could have been done in a way that didnt make you look like a two year old throwing a tantrum.
Wednesday i hear you! You have every right to express how the end of the book made you feel. Dont let people try to insist you shouldnt feel exactly how YOU felt when finishing the book. The author did handle it graciously to bad her fans didnt.
Sorry you personally didn't like the ending but there is no reason to be rude about it. Tate and Jared have been on a journey and I for one find this development pretty realistic and am happy these two get another book. I very much look forward to Aflame.
Wow you can certainly not like something I just don't think being rude is necessary. I have read them all and personally did NOT like Falling Away for my own reasons but certainly would not say something like "you did it for the money, right". For starters, she is a writer, who works, and unless you personally work for peanuts, to some degree OF COURSE she is writing to get paid. Also, however, this writer has a connection and development with her characters and though you don't have to like it, (as I didn't) I am more than sure she is trying to write with that connection. She is gracious actually. I probably would not have been as nice :)
That is so unnecessarily harsh, every author has a right to write what they think they need to right, or what they want for their characters, whether or not you read them is your choice, but you don't need to be a hater.
Penelope, ignore this negative person and continue creating the stories YOU want, if you feel that they need another 10 books, do it, because they are YOUR characters, and you are a magnificent author, your fans will be glad to read anything you write, even if it is a description of a tree you saw. Keep doing what you do best!
She should be flagged to Goodreads. Everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to have one BUT that was not an opinion, that was menacing bullying. You don't want to read, it was spoiled for YOU? Really are you someone that important that Penny Douglas has to write a book specifically for YOU???? YOUR loss.
