I appreciate the fact that one doesn't need to read the whole series in order to read/follow the story in just one book. But I also enjoy series sometimes where the books are tied together; but you don't necessarily have to read them all in order to enjoy just one either.
I like the way you do it, Robin. It gives a feeling of "coming home" without any obligation on the part of the reader to read the next one soon enough to remember all the details.
