Kcdee Sure, you may kill each gender the same but usually the description for women is longer and more gratuitous than for males. That there lies the problem. Men usually get shot or stabbed with no horrendous descriptions for them because men can't handle that.
It's a form of entertainment that is sickening and I'm fed up with it. You're feeding into the male psyche that it's ok for women to be treated that way, a more violent way, than for men.

Jenni Hooper Kcdee, just out of curiosity, what was the last John Marrs book that you read? Last year it was none, so I’m only guessing you must’ve read them all this year?

Kcdee When I don't finish reading any book I don't add to my list, I don't see the point. So, yes, I have started to read some of these books, I then realise what type it is then stop reading - I also do a search of certain words and can see that women cop it more than men, I don't like this, no woman should, if you don't think that's a problem then I guess you are unaware.

Jenni Hooper But I’ve fully read these books. I didn’t not finish them. And I absolutely love everything written by John. So to have such a high opinion of something from a word search and a dnf, I’m not sure how you feel that’s ok. I’m definitely not ‘unaware’. It’s a story. Mr. Marrs doesn’t have a sexist agenda by any means. Is there a particular book that you’re referring to that has triggered you?

Ocean I remember when I was younger we read the whole book and we did not talk about being triggered. Everyone is triggered by so much silliness today.

Jenni Hooper That’s exactly it Ocean! I think if a writer is able to ‘trigger’ us and make us feel a certain way from their writing, whether we liked the book or not, is pretty awesome for them! That’s the point of reading! You’re not always going to love what you read but it doesn’t make the author ‘wrong’ for writing what they did 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ocean I agree Jenni. I hope to find more books that makes me feel something. It seems difficult foe me to find that lately.
