I’m 30% into reading and enjoying The Great Frontier: In the Beginning. The storyline is compelling, the characters engaging. You want to find out how everything gets resolved. Having a YA version may give the book easier access to middle and high school libraries and school book fairs, while giving a steamier option available for adult readers. I know many adults who often read YA books when one looks interesting.
