Sabrina I thought about it and it is not so easy to actually work this one out. Mostly because a lot of time woman are portrayed in this position in the sports films/books, and really if you’re not careful then you are just recycling an old story.
The main female character is raised by her grandparents, super cookey but super supportive. Grandpa was a huge Football legend in his day, and they used to listen to the sport (not a specific team) on the radio (hence her fallen in love with the job) all the time. She is super competitive and serious about her job because she is a female in a male dominated industry. One that is really populated by retired athletes, because really for all sports those are the most experienced and they usually have fan bases for their playing days.
Love interest could be a player one that is either a serious attention seeker or trouble maker. Either she is not his biggest fan because she doesn’t like his commitment to the game, or possibly an old family feud that they were both unaware of until their family’s get into the mix (possibly at a fundraiser or celebration). But problems arise that force them to spend time together and a new respect emerges from them both. Somebody runs because of commitment issues, but they come back and live happily ever after! Lol maybe :P
That’s a hard one to write about because a lot of books/movies cast woman in this role, or something else in the backroad space. I think it would be more interesting having a woman working as a scout for the team, or as a coach at a collage/high school that they are scouting. Even a sports doctor/trainer dealing with a temperamental player. Mabey even a ref, I think I heard that there was a female NFL ref that story would be cool. But I don’t know that much about football.

Fernanda Diaz I would make her a radio newscaster or newspaper reporter that got stock working the sports section as a reprimand from her boss. The love interest??: Chicago Star´s Communication´s Director. He can´t stand her because of her disrespect to the sport he loves so much, but admits she is one of the brightest minds writing news today. She always asks the right questions and cuts around the "BS". How they get together?? Well I would leave that to you Ms. Phillips since you are the best at what you do...
