Thanks for answering! Now that I see your response, it all seems so obvious. I really love this book and Alma. While reading I actually had to verify that this was indeed fiction, and that an industrious Alma Whittaker had not left shelves of meticulous journals for someone like you to find and turn into a story!
Very concise response...and obvious too. I would also add that, as a reader, what we see, hear, and experience about a character, and the story as a whole, is simply a reflection of ourselves, not the author, regardless of whether the character and story are fictional. (Also true in real-life).
