Ooh Darrow really works for me!
At the risk of turning this comments thread into a casting thread...
I have a *very* firm picture of Cordelia as the historical-fantasy writer Mary Robinette Kowal. Google her for pictures. She's not an actor, but I just can't imagine anyone else. :)
Feel free to call me crazy, but I really think David Spade (with a hair cut) could pull off Miles! Especially Admiral Naismith. I've just always dream-cast David Spade! Maybe this clip will make me seem a little less crazy :)

Wonderful, thank you! (And now that you say it, Paul Darrow as Duv seems particularly fitting/obvious.)
It's interesting; ever since I was little, when I read my first Vorkosigan book, I've associated Miles with Michael J. Fox, but he's the only one that gets celebrity casting. I do have mental pictures of other characters, but they're not based on real people as far as I know (my subconscious may have a different POV on the matter).
Love seeing how everyone else is picturing everyone!
Oh gods, I never thought of Darrow as Duv Galeni, but that's *perfect*! ROFL.
And yay Walter Koenig!
I also have trouble visualizing characters, but I know why this is. I have Prosopagnosia (face-blindness). (Check it in Wikipedia.) The list of actors who might be cast as the various characters helps me not at all, since I can't visualize them, either. I "recognize" characters the same way I do the people in my life: by voice, manner of speech, context (where I usually see them), body build, hairstyle and color (hair salons are my enemy), manner of dress (uniforms confuse me). Your descriptions of all these things are how I keep track of who is who. Some other authors fail me in this respect, but your characters are vivid for me.
