My dad is Native Hawai'ian (kanaka maoli) and I love your book, I felt such a strong connection to Hawai'i and our people.
Mahalo, Kaile, that's very gratifying to hear. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Hawai'i. Unfortunately circumstances probably won't allow that to happen, but at least I can visit and write about the islands and their history.
So glad to hear another book is underway that has an island setting/history to it. Honolulu is in my top ten list!
Excited. I love Hawaiian historical fiction (and Hawaii of course). Your books are at the top of my list of all time favorite books. The history, the story, the characters, the beauty-all woven together and so mesmerizing. I have been looking for a story set in Kauai by you for a long time. :)
Mahalo, Meg. I love visiting Kauai and am open to writing books set on all the islands; but my criteria is always to find one that has enough historical weight and drama to support a novel. I'm currently writing DAUGHTER OF MOLOKA'I, a sequel of sorts to MOLOKA'I telling the story of Rachel's daughter Ruth, her life and her 22-year relationship with Rachel, I hope you'll enjoy it as you have my other books!
There is no way I won't love it. Molokai has stayed with me, as have the characters. No pressure-any eta on the publication date? Mahalo.
