Theresa Maybe another story based in Scotland? Maybe another story with a strong female character? Maybe your answer could have been nicer?

Becky I wish it were possible to "like" a comment.

Emma A thousand likes for that comment Theresa.

Allie /agree... both "answers" that posted yesterday made me wonder why I'm following her

Glee Maybe I'm just thick skinned, but I don't see anything wrong or mean with her answer. How else would you put it?

♥︎♥︎Sofia♥︎♥︎ I keep hearing talk that Ms Gabaldon is a tad.....how can I say this... 'arrogant'? This reply seem to be in line with that opinion....

Becky It's condescending and rude. It would be better to just say "No, not really" rather than put down the question and the questioner. I don't understand the need to act superior. Would it be so hard to just give a civil answer, or no answer at all?

Linda WOW

Angelina Mattioda Sorry, I have to laugh. In one of Diana's responses, she calls it "Snarky". Some consider it rude. She is definitely a no-nonsense person and she answers a question exactly like she thinks it in her head. Even her so called rude answers made me smile because it's just who she is. I'm not saying she is a rude person but she doesn't seem very self-aware nor care how she comes across to her fans. Regardless, we all still have a deep appreciation for her work.

Tamar Whipple And I saw nothing at all rude or snarky with her answer. I considered it just pretty straight forward. So, I could consider those that took offense pretty thin skinned. Just a matter of perception

message 11: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Posner It is one's perception. I perceived Diana's response as authentic, pragmatic, and intelligent/ scholarly, and thus refreshing and enjoyable.

message 12: by Cindi (new)

Cindi I'm in the snarky and semi-rude camp, and choosing to think she is not self-aware. Just keep writing books and scripts, Ms. G, and forget the rest!

message 13: by Nicki (new)

Nicki Mackenzie Not feeling the rude...before I read her response, I was thinking that obviously the person asking had not read beyond the first book or two, and needed to, lol!

message 14: by Susie (new)

Susie The other issue is that many of us who follow her have heard these questions and answers many, many times! Nevertheless, she is one of the most open and accessible writers in today's world! Despite limited time, she still opens doors to her readers, many who must be new to the series and/or the TV production.

MommaBear Diana's answer came off as rude, IMO. What the TV show is doing could absolutely provide inspiration, whether for a book taking place 30 years from now or not. Scenery, for example, could provide inspiration, just as something somewhere had to have inspired the stones enabling time travel. Stonehenge perhaps? The author could have definitely phrased her reply more politely, considering many people have only begun to read her epic sagas BECAUSE of the TV show. I haven't yet read her books, have only watched the first half of the television series based on them. I have come to dislike the character of Claire, but intended to read the books to see if my opinion is based on the actress' portrayal. I've read Diana's website and several blogs about the series and feel the role was terribly miscast. Just my opinion, and I am well aware that the books are always better than the movie/TV show. However, reading these Q&As, the author does tend to answer questions rather rudely. No matter how many times you've been asked a question, a polite response is expected. Manners are still necessary if you want to gain and/or keep fans. It's a small price to pay for being famous.
