I am interested in being a historical researcher for authors. Do you hire people to do your research for you ever?
Yet you overlooked Richard III's marriage alliance to Portugal in your Cousin's War series. If you never overlook anything why did you over look that?
Considering the marriage never took place and Richard wasn't a POV character, it makes sense that it wasn't in the books. It would have had to be either in The Red Queen or The White Princess to fit correctly in the timeline, but would not have impacted the plot at all. It's not as if the historical fact was changed.
The marriage should have been mentioned, people at court would have been talking about/knew about it. It isn't as if this marriage agreement was done in secret, 6 days after Anne Neville died ships were sent to Portugal, people knew about this.
Margaret Beaufort would have known about this. Elizabeth of York would have known she was being betrothed to Duke Manuel. She ignored them because they don't fit in with her narrative, plain and simple.
She ignores anything that doesn't fit in with EOY/R3 being true love forever and hating their spouses. It is her fantasy but she caused herself to believe it is real, despite evidence to the contrary. Both royal couples had unusually happy marriages for the time period, and Ms. Gregory does not like this at all.
