Martyn Stanley No point being a martyr. I'm always a bit unsure of rating and reviewing if you've hardly read any of the book. Having said that I don't think any author has ever used two opening chapters of unreadable drivel as a clever plot device... I suppose if the writing is good, but the story not to your taste you ought to give it more of a chance. It could pick up!

Nenia Campbell I usually know what rating a book is going to get after the first chapter. My rating often goes down after I finish a book to the end; rarely has it ever gone up.

Martyn Stanley Haha! I know what you mean. I usually feel like the sweet spot is about the middle of a book. Endings rarely live up to the rest of the book I think.
