Thank you for this answer. I just finished reading Knight's Shadow (loved it btw!) but the Falcio/Ethalia relationship is the only one in the series so far that I just don't buy. It doesn't feel earned to me at all so I don't feel any investment in it. And while your explanation doesn't change any of the for me, it did at least give me a better understanding of how Falcio sees it. Can't wait for book 3!
