I would also like to add something: a writer once gave me a very good piece of advice about writer's block. He said, if you are blocked on one scene or chapter, leave it and go onto something else. There is no reason why a narrative has to be written chronologically. I found this to be good advice over the years. If chapter 2 is a problem, go to chap. 3 or 10 or whatever. Or switch to another scene.
