I suspect that all authors "fangirl/boy" over their characters, at least a little. I know that I'm madly in (parental-type) love with my three main girls: Astra Fairweather (Seasons of Elsewhen), Christina Amies (PsiFinder), and Sydney Chambers. In real life I am the father of three sons; in my literary life, I have three daughters. Well, dozens of literary daughters AND sons, of course, but in the main, those three make me proud.
