Lois’s answer to “I've loved your books since I discovered a ragged copy of "Brothers In Arms" in a used book store. …” > Likes and Comments

I would think that almost any reference to "The dog... in the nighttime" would relate to the Sherlock Holmes story "Silver Blaze" and, Lois, I think you were word perfect on that, but I also didn't look it up. But what is really remarkable about this question is the fact that someone found one of your books in a used book store. It can happen but not very often especially not with the earlier books.
It probably wouldn't have happened except the copy was fairly battered, someone probably upgraded to a newer print. I live next to a used book store and anytime someone foolishly sells their spouses books to "make room in the house", I snap up the good authors. Bujold is a very hard name to find in the store.
@Mreen
I concurr ! the only one I ever found in an used book store was Cetaganda...
And I ditched it myself 5 months later when I bought the omnibus.... :$ (less)
Amusingly/confusingly enough, I just saw an advertisement for this on Skype and ended up clicking on it just in case it had something to do with where your quote came from. Unfortunately it does not appear so, but the name is so close it seems almost too much for coincidence.

(Google was driving me crazy with advice on how to get the dog to stop sleeping on owner's beds!)
