A follow-up question to your response... You mention the Freudian shift in Hamlet and Gertrude's relationship. As a HS English teacher, students often have a LOT to say about the "new twist," to the point that some of my colleagues refuse to show any Hamlet with Freudian overtones. Do you think any of our modern interpretations can be "wrong"? What's the craziest "new twist" you've ever seen a director/ filmmaker undertake in one of the Bard's works?
