Itumeleng Mehale I love your book 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' and for the longest time, I thought you were a woman- despite your name. You talk about women's pain in a way only another woman would. A woman's pain is often complex and deep rooted, it makes sense now with your comments above. It was really moving.

Ingerid Opstelten Dear Mister Hosseini,

I read all your Books and lovend them. Especialy the first two. I have a question About " the thousand splendid suns. I had the feeling you tryed to put 5 Books in one. The story's About the italian dokter, the two friends who wend back to Afghanistan, the story's About the little Village and how it was completly changed, the little boy who lived in the house beald on the spot of the little hut and ofcourse the story's of the adopted dauther and her life and That of her brother.
All the story's diserve ther one book I think.
I had a bit the feeling you wantDe to tell to much in one story, why the hurry and writing this story's one by one, then we can enjoye more Books in this subject.
I'm from Holland and I realy think it's Great how you show the world the human site of the story About the life in Afganistan. I believe That by not living ther anymore you are more capabel to tell it so people all over the world understands and want to read About it!

Katie A Thousand Splendid Suns was my favorite book!! I was so engrossed on the train that I forgot where I was. It was an emotional roller coaster.

message 6: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Crocker I have to say, A Thousand Splendid Suns is one of my top ten favorite books of all time. It was chosen as a book club read, and not a book I would have picked for myself. I have to say I had all sorts of preconceived ideas regarding your subject matter. I was so swept away and I became so attached to your characters. I came away more aware of the Afghanistan history and situation. I can honestly say that I do not think the same after reading your book, and that it changed my feelings toward the plight of the people of that region. Your book was very powerful to me.

Anna Hagen Someday women will have their voices heard....in the meantime, there are those like Khaled who will be their voices. Hard to believe a man wrote this book.

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna John I agree with Anna Hagen, A Thousand Splendid Suns was the best story I read that unfolds the story from the female perspective and has been written by a male author.

message 10: by Titi (new)

Titi Ady I read a long time ago that those who don't read are condemned to see the world with only one pair of eyes and find this to be so true. Thank you, Mr Hosseini for being the eyes of those who love your books

Nahila Salameh why did you choose actors from different Nationality and not Afghan? i prefered to see afghan people in the film instead of other nationality, this will make the story more honest . what do you think?
