To butt in to your conversation, when Adam Cesare reviewed MONGRELS on youtube, he recommended a movie called WHEN ANIMALS DREAM which turned out to be amazing. If you haven't checked it out yet, it's on Netflix.
I got to intro Ginger Snaps (along with Near Dark) down at the Houston Alamo Draft House a few weeks ago. was amazing seeing them on the big screen, back to back. and, yeah, When Animals Dream: amazing. and, another rec, a novel this time: When We Were Animals, Joshua Gaylord.
Love Ginger Snaps, not a big fan of the sequel and prequel, "the Beginning" but still enjoyed them. I also really love Dog Soldiers.
Company of Wolves excellent movie, Thomas Tessier's The Nightwalker and Guy Endore's The Werewolf of Paris great books!
"The Howling" is probably my absolute favorite, however, it is hard to not include "An American Werewolf in London". It was just such a classic and the EFX were so visceral.
American Werewolf in London? And The Howling? It's like y'all have my childhood VHS tape list! The effects may be cheesy by modern standards, but the stories still hold up!
