Nick Green Interesting! Reminds me of the reason Stephen King gave for writing his (I believe only) YA book, The Eyes of the Dragon. His daughter Naomi was 13 at the time and said she didn't want to read about his "vampires and slushy crawling things!" So he wrote a book about princes and dragons and wizards instead... yet somehow managed to crowbar in the villain from The Stand, who is terrifying.

Maybe all books are written with a hypothetical 'ideal reader' in mind - in these cases, the teenage daughters of the authors!

Tara Ellis What an interesting insight! I didn't know that about Stephen King. I read ALL of his books (published at the time) when I was younger, but changed to lighter stories when they got a bit dark for me. I was also a big Dean Koontz fan. Maybe some of that comes through in the 'creep' factor in Bloodline. :)
