I'm sure Ignatius is over 2000 yeas old. In the first book Sylva tells him that the war scene Fletcher saw in his dream took place 2000 years ago when elves and men fought their last war together as a chieftain's son was captured by the Orcs. Fletcher saw the scene through his demon's eyes (Ignatius's eyes).
Arcturus summoned a new demon (his canid) whereas Fletcher summoned an existing demon.
