Mary Feliciani He must be a friendly ghost if your family is still living there. Sounds like he is protecting the place. Did your family name him Caius, or were you able to track the name somehow?

message 2: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto Yes, he is quite friendly. He is "attached" to my cousin Maria, whom he claims to be his wife. We learned of his name and background via automatic writing, which is unbelievable to witness. It is a 12-page declaration of his love for Maria. He says he will not pass over until they are reunited. Ergo, the chest-plate, greaves, etc. His story is amazing, but I won't write about it because it is so personal, and therefore, not my story to tell.

Mary Feliciani People from an older generation were great storytellers. Your account of this family ghost reminds me of such stories. Stories don't need to be written down, but they do need to be shared. I am sure that the retelling of your cousin's story, within your family, will make it to the next generation.

Pamela Allegretto The ghost story is quite a delicate matter, since my cousin's husband (Italian) is so jealous of the ghost. The whole story reminds me of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," except Maria is not a widow. Also, Maria is not the only person who can see Caius. He shows up next to her or behind her in many family photos. And more than a half dozen family member have seen him or heard him in person. So much drama for an already over-dramatic Italian family.

Mary Feliciani Oh, this is so hilarious. I remember watching The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. If your cousin lives by the sea, there is even more of a connection.

message 6: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto No, she does not live by the sea. In fact, they have recently moved here from Italy to CT, and yes, Caius made the trip as well. He's here! My cousin Carmine, Maria's husband, is NOT happy! I guess when dealing with a family ghost, you can run but you can't hide.

message 7: by Mary (new)

Mary Feliciani This only gets better. The plot thickens!

message 8: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto One thing this has taught me is to hope you are wearing comfortable clothes when you die. Our poor Caius was killed in battle, and thus, still clatters about in metal chest plate, helmet, and greaves.

message 9: by Mary (new)

Mary Feliciani Your family seems delightful, Pamela.

message 10: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto Yes, they are. Saluti!

message 11: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer S. Alderson That is an incredible story, Pamela! I'm not sure I'd be so relaxed, but it seems your family has little choice.

message 12: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto He really is quite simpatico.

message 13: by Angela (new)

Angela Petch How fascinating! I have never had an experience like this, but am not sceptical.

message 14: by Diann (new)

Diann Lewis-Charles This is an amazingly beautiful story! Encounters with ghosts can be immensely enchanting,

message 15: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Allegretto Diann Lewis-Charles, Yes, it is a beautiful, but rather sad story. Are you saying that you have had your own ghostly encounters? Do tell.
