Elliott Bignell Yes, and if pigs had wings they'd vote for the traditional sausages as well.

Manny Elliott, I am glad to see that you also support the enfranchising of flying pigs. Too many people ignore this vital topic.

Elliott Bignell No bacon without representation. Surely this is alimentary.

Manny Theresa May says the people aren't interested. Another porky.

Jim Wonder if carrying the mail was an un-mentioned mission for Kirk/Spock/Bones/Scotty (Uhura, Sulu....)

Manny I think we need to ask ChatGPT to write this episode for us.

message 7: by Jim (new)

Jim I have "heard of" Chat GPT - but "know" little else.

My son (aged 26) recently commented that he'd sent "Chat" a text (or some such) as if he'd sent it to his best friend. "Chat" replied in a way very much like that friend.

I asked if Chat "passes the Turing test" - Sonny said Yes.

message 8: by Manny (new)

Manny Technically, it fails the Turing test because it constantly reminds you that it's an AI. But it's not fooling anyone.

Jim I checked the current wiki entry - right at the top - the "test" involves a "third party" (human) who would "judge natural language (text-only) conversations between a human and a machine designed to generate human-like responses. (The judge) would be aware that one (was a machine), and all participants would be separated from one another."

I'd always imagined it was two-way - with the "subject's" electronic nature unknown.

Manny Take a look at Turing's original paper! The test is often misquoted.
