Abhisek Dash Exactly. That's just what I wanted to do: point it out to you in case you'd be interested someday. I realize the thing about rights now. They'd kinda restrict things. Anyways, I'm listening to Weeks' The Black Prism now. Just 1 chapter in, since I started last night. Weeks' new book released this month, but I'd forgotten all about the story. I was about to reread the series from the beginning. But after listening to Mistborn and finding it amazingly well done, I decided to listen to Weeks' The Black Prism (GraphicAudio) instead of rereading it. As for the sound effects, you say you find them distracting. And we all, of course, have our likes and dislikes. I rather find that they add an atmosphere to the story, the quick tune that plays during a fight, the peaceful music that plays during a dinner party, with sounds of people chatting in the background. And having different voice actors for different roles adds a LOT of personality to the people: their varying accents, laughs, tense moods, sarcasm, etc is more pronounced this way. Their speech so accurately portrays their character (I found Breeze had the best voice-acting in Mistborn, followed by Vin). You actually start to get so familiar with their voices, you start missing them at the end of the story. Anyways, I liked it enough to point it out to you. I also sent Robin Hobb an email (she's much harder to reach than you are) since I love her work too, then sent you this message. I hope to listen to your books this way too, someday in the future. Take care. And keep shelling out lots of more interesting stuff for us to read... :D

Abhisek Dash Also, you really ought to try it out for yourself, if you haven't already. And like you said, you could also ask around about the rights thingy to some of the authors you mentioned (Weeks, preferably, since he's with Orbit too. Sanderson's with Tor). Bye. Later...

Tamahome It's full cast, music, and effects, but most of the text from the novels are still there. It works best with novels with a lot of dialog.

Michael Yeah Weeks is with Orbit but his audio is with Tantor so it depends on a whole bunch of factors - Has Orbit sold it as a subsidiary right? Is he signed directly with Tantor? What does his non-compete look like? Lots of rights issue but I will check into it more.

Abhisek Dash Glad to hear you're still thinking about it... :)
