Thank you for this question Jacqueline, and also for your explanation, Katherine. I don't think I ever considered the reason behind diminutives.
Dang, is my face red? I hate to admit it, but I marked "Olya" as a typo in my book. I suppose that is what I get for reading a book from an editor's standpoint and not being familiar with the particulars of a foreign language. Thank you for the explanation. I will note of it in my book.
