A lot of us voted for him, not a good way to anger your readers. And it has not been a horror show, best economy in years.
Kerry, I don't think you wrote what you meant to convey here, but it's okay, I get your point. I not only stand behind what I wrote but now, two years in, I'd go so far as to say Trump is the worst thing to happen to the US and the GOP in history. Period.
However, I respect that you have a different POV and you must have some reason for that. And you know what? It's fair. There are TV stars I don't enjoy anymore because of their support of him (not many - I don't personally know of many people who support him at all). If I found out an author I liked or was thinking about reading was a supporter of him and his regime, I'd probably avoid that person as well. In other words, I'd feel the same way you do - and in that way I respect your viewpoint.
But I'm not going to pander to readers and pretend to be something I'm not or to believe something I don't. Your implication here is that you'd rather I shut up and pretend but I am sure if you thought about it, you wouldn't want me to do that - it would be crummy, a cheap and dishonest way to try and get a few pennies for myself. And I don't believe any person should take advantage of a national platform and the trust of strangers to try and benefit themselves at the expense of others.
If you are prospering in this nightmare, I congratulate you sincerely. Moreover, I hope a day will come in the future where we can all agree - to at least SOME degree - that our country is doing well.
That day is not today.
Thank you for your reasoned and principled approach Beth and I'm certain history will show you to be correct.
