Jerri Another "relative" of Freddy from Cotillion is Freddy Arbothnot from the Lord Peter novels by Dorothy L. Sayers. Several of us figure that Freddy and Kitty must be Freddy A's ancestors. Ivan would be a great many generations later, but much the same type.

Marti Dolata Cotillion is one of my absolute favorites because (spoiler)
Freddy gets the girl instead of the handsome, sexy Jack ( a much more typical Romance hero) not because he is smarter or better looking, but because of his basic decency and good heart.

Srjanssen How could I forget P. G.? Jeeves and Co among my annual rereads.

Setanya Koltovsky Ah, I thought that Freddie and Ivan have similar qualities, especially of heart and generosity. They are both as persons whom I thought I didn't quite like initially, but they each snuck up on me as more and more likeable, until they're lovable. Though Ivan gains considerably more complexity.

I too especially loved the relationship between Freddie and his father.

Sybal Janssen I always liked Freddie, but like you I had to warm up to Ivan. I didn't realize at first Ivan's precarious political position as a very close contender for the imperial throne. He knew which way the wind blew from an early age.

Laureen Hart Like Marti I have always been happy that Freddy got the girl. It has been fun to watch Ivan stretch out of his lazy bubble and test his limits. I was pleased he found someone to appreciate him.
