You might want to also check deceased male vs female characters. It's been a while since I read the series, but both characters I recall dying / remembering the death scenes for were women. And I don't recall any memorable non bad guy male characters dying / death scenes in this series. Which is in many ways the opposite of my recollections from Duchy of Terra or Castle Federation.
