Is it possible that all your planning has been done in your head as a result of having written so many novels? That perhaps you've learned the strategy so well that it is ingrained within you? Like touch-typing? I initially 'map out' my work but then I abandon the map and just 'go' where the story 'goes'. Interestingly, when I look back, I have fulfilled the map's journey too, just embellished it somewhat in the telling. Thank you for your answer, I really do appreciate it :)
