Kate Fulford That's very insightful, thank you Cynthia.

I can certainly relate to having the time & space - it must be tougher to compartmentalize when you have more going on!

Your point on writing fiction making you a better academic writer is interesting. I can see that makes sense albeit I feel my (relatively) recent academic writing has made my fiction 'tighter'. It works both ways, I think!

Cynthia Robinson Absolutely it works both ways. For sure - I find my plot outlining exercises resemble my academic ones more and more as time goes by. I was an academic before I was a fiction writer, soooo... :)
