You know, if I could add to that answer above, one of my favorite parts is creating characters. It feels like I'm creating real people with real lives and real emotions and more! That gives me so much joy.
I like the way the story blossoms. I come up with a simple idea, then maybe a 3 page plot and I think that's not enough for a story. I let it sit for a couple of days or weeks while the idea grows in my head. When I sit at my computer to add the new story development, more story comes out. Soon I have a nine page plot and I'm ready to start on the novel. Yes, it is fun and I too am surprised at how things turn out.
