So many great quotes - "mine to me, yes"; "still, always",; "who do you think you are, Lord Vorkosigan?"; "Just don't haul home any severed heads ... family joke"; "the one thing you can't trade for your heart's desire is your heart". But the one that's been resonating with me lately is "straight up good guys and bad guys ... Great, which are we?" Feels even more relevant today than when you wrote those words.
I have a small problem- I work at a MS so I meet a lot of kids, and when a Miles comes by I can't help but say "Miles means soldier". I hope they aren't offended (btw, my daughter is named Cordelia :))
I also loved this, "What is love but delight in another human being?" and I appreciate being reminded of it. I really must go back and reread the whole series instead of just "Shards of Honor" and "Memory" which I always reach for when I need comfort (its been too long since I read Barrayar, Borders of Infinity and Komarr as well and far too long since I reread the whole series and took notes to learn from the writing and the philosophy).
I've found myself adopting "A day late and a dollar short". I know, I know, it's not original to LMB, but she's who I learned it from, so for me, it's an LMB quote.
I find myself using Gregor's "let's see what happens", which is often appropriate. :D
And I also love Aral's "Reputation is what other people know about you. Honor is what you know about yourself." That really struck a chord when I read it and it's something I hold on to.
