Erika, I love knowing some of my stuff is on the list. I'll definitely see if I can add some of my own favorites to it. Thank you for letting us know about it! Isabella, I saw where you joined the MembersOnly group as well. I posted the question, and the members have been providing answers - if you and Erika both would like to check it out (Erika, I assume you've joined as well), the permalink is https://www.facebook.com/groups/JWHMe....
Yup! I joined that group and saw the notification of your FB post yesterday. Can't wait to see what suggestions get posted.
Thank you so much to any of your favorites to the list. Besides you and Lynda Aicher, I have a hard time finding books that are erotic BDSM with the '30s to 40's something heroines. I usually get my book suggestions from Smart Bitches Trashy Books but their book suggestions keep skewing younger, and I was shocked that out of all the romance booklists on Goodreads there wasn't one for this category.
Are romance readers in their '30s & '40s supposed either age out of wanting hot loved scenes that reflect their age? I, for one, will not go gently into the world of soft cover romance.
Thank you for your female heroines, and I look forward to your book suggestions.
Erika, that shallow pond of choices turns into a mud puddle once you hit the 50s. Ugh, and same thought - are we devoid of sexual drive after we pass that mark? I don't think so! I haven't thought of any books yet, probably because I've read some great books where the heroines "might" be in their 20s or early 30s, but it's mentioned very little, and their maturity is such that I think of them/imagine them in their later 30s or older, if you know what I mean. But I'll keep thinking. There was an anthology, probably 15-20 years or so ago, called Ripe Fruit, that was all about older heroines in erotic stories, but I think it's gone out of print, unfortunately. Hmm...you've given me something to think about!
LOL, it looks like I have a lot to look forward to the older I get.
You are right; we have just been reading what's been available until we come to realize...wait, I'm not reflected in these books anymore. But when we go to find books that reflect us, there are only a few.
Thank you for that book suggestion. I found used copies on Amazon so I will order one this week. If you think of any others, send them my way.
I'm a small business librarian, so my thought was to crowdsource this list to readers since it's such a needle in a haystack problem.
Please keep up your writing and any other books you think of along the way, please add to that list or let me know.
Thank you,
Erika
Erika, I know many readers would very much appreciate that! I'll keep thinking, but you've made me realize how few books on my keeper shelves have heroes/heroines over the age of 40. But interestingly, a lot of these favored books of mine don't make that much of the age of the hero/heroine. They are portrayed in a mature way such that I find them very relatable and don't "think" of them as a couple decades younger than myself, if that makes sense. Case in point? Eve and Roarke of JD Robb's In Death series. Anyhow, I'm glad you're compiling the list. Thank you!
That makes total sense. I feel the same way about the Veronica Speedwell series by Deanna Raybourn. She's built up the sexual tension well but that series is up to book 4 and there has been very little action between the two main characters. I have requested an open door love scene when it finally happens but Deanna Raybourn doesn't really do that.
I will add JD Robb's In Death series to my list.
Thanks again!
Erika

I am always looking for books like yours with 30's and 40's something female leads and will head over to your Facebook group.
I recently created a Goodreads list for Hot Romance or Erotica w/ 30's to 40's Something Heroines. If either of you ladies could add a few of your favorites, I would love to add them to my 'To Read' list. FYI...there are a few books by Joey W. Hill. :)
