Jane Bigelow I want Pen and Des to come zap the Japanese beetles in my garden. In fact, it would be great if they'd just zap the neighborhood beetles. I think magic's the only solution to the horrible little creatures.

Jane Bigelow As for the moral accounting, that does get complex. Since the beetles are not native to the US, maybe destroying them is a highly orderly act of returning the ecosystem to normal...but wait, my garden is full of things that couldn't survive more than a month without careful modification of our semi-arid climate.

Heather-Lin This conversation makes my heart happy as it contains many of my passions: gardening, order vs chaos, and of course, Penric & Desdemona 🌱🖤

Jean Lamb They can be hospice workers for the yellowjackets in my yard, too.

Norine Luker They can zap the ganoderma just on my oak tree. The trick is to keep the moral accounting on a local scale. No one is benefiting from that fungus on my tree, no matter what it does elsewhere.
