Grant So it was the Devourer who created the Demon King when he touched Erik soul after slaying the draking, just as his version of an FU?

Garon Whited That's certainly one possible motive. I'm sure there are others.

Grant Why didn't the Mother of Flame do anything about it? She was right there, and how did the Demon King break out of Erik's mind in the first place?

Grant Also, holey crap are these stories amazing and deep! All these years later and I can still find new things when I reread them.

Garon Whited You might re-read the incident. The Mother of Flame was there, but the Devourer is also a deific entity. They fought over him and the Devourer came away with, at the very least, a copy of the dark and terrible aspects of Eric. Presumably, this copy was then empowered as an entity in its own right. We don't get to see this, since the story is told mostly from Eric's point of view, but it's not an unreasonable supposition.

Grant Okay, that makes sense. I thought that the Devourer had left the Demon King in Erik's mind because of the way he reacted to seeing it but if the Devourer ripped it out right away it explains why the Mother of Flames couldn't do anything.
