Candace I asked this original question! I wear hearing aids as well, and I have been passing your book around to all of my friends and family so that they are able to get a beautifully written and illustrated glimpse at what my life with hearing loss looks like. Your answer to my question is perfect, and it brought tears to my eyes to know that someone else struggles with the same things I do. Thank you for blessing me (twice now!) with that precious moment of not feeling quite so alone in the the world.

Cece Bell Hi Candace! Thank you so much for your question and for writing in. Isn't it great to find others like you? That's been an unexpected benefit of the book for me. I'm finding what I sort of believed to be true, is actually REALLY true: it's better to share the things that make you different than it is to hide them. Most people are great and will roll with it and try to make things easier for you.

I realized that I messed up my response! It should go:

New Someone: Can I kick you in the pants?

Me, sounding chipper: Yes, OK!

NS: [Looks confused.]

Ha ha!

Anyway, giggles aside...I really appreciate your question and follow-up so much, and am so pleased that you are able to USE the book to help explain things to your hearing family and friends. That is the best.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

xoxo
Cece

Cece Bell Hi again, Candace...after I wrote my response to you, I realized I could change my original answer! Huzzah for figuring out this small part of Goodreads! xoxo!
