Unfortunately, I suspect there's no way to resolve the underlying problem: Amazon-Audible has a an effective monopoly on the audiobook market, and they've used it to screw the hell out of authors. Their current terms are RIDICULOUS. But since they control 90%+ of the audiobook market, there's no real alternative. Even if I can get decent terms for distributing my work on iTunes, it doesn't really matter because I can't support the cost of producing audiobooks for such a small slice of the market.
Wish I had better news. Hopefully Audible will find itself in anti-trust litigation at some point. --They're being really blatant about what they're doing. -- But until that happens, I'm probably done producing audiobooks.
