Excellent point. I often wonder--and I'm sure smarter people than me have thought of this-if fiction has an easier time getting past people's defenses because they're less guarded when reading it. Something about the way they get caught up in the drama, suspense, characters' moral issues allows them to let ideas past the goalie that they might scoff at in an Atlantic article or something like that,
