102730 When I wrote this story, I really didn't think it would sell. There's backstory. My challenge was to make it dribble in correctly and be of interest.

I told a friend and she said, "Oh, it's written Hangover-style."

I went yeah!

Here's too excerpt spots for you to see if I did my job:

POV question (11 new)
Jun 07, 2013 05:20AM

102730 Hi, Deanette! I wrote an almost very sensual novella in first person. I wrote everything in first person. It is incredibly intimate. The problem is not being able to switch from head to head (or pov character). Everything is told from one person's point of view. This doesn't bother me. It does bother some romance readers who want to know what the hero is thinking.

I read a bunch of mysteries and many are told in first pov. It has never bothered me.

You will have to experiment and see which you like best. Maybe have a beta reader or critique partner read to help you.

If you've submitted to publishers or agents, what are they saying?

Liese, this is such a good book. I loved it, especially over some NYT books I've read lately.

If I read your bio, I might not have remembered mostly because I remember some things and some not. However, I think it would. It's literary, not a romance. And touches on subjects relevant to today.

102730 I just finished a Tree Grows in Brooklyn and if you have never read this classic, you should. It is beautiful. (and no, the movie doesn't count-lol)

And am finishing up the biography of Georgette Heyer. Lots of quotes from her letters, especially to her agent and publisher (would we do that nowadays???) The best part too is the family photos.
